Sharon L. Horner, Esq.
Helping children find safe, permanent families is more than my profession, it is my calling. My commitment to adoption began in childhood when my own family experienced the heartbreak of being unable to grow through natural means. I am passionate about educating prospective birth parents about modern adoption and providing the support they need to make informed, empowered decisions for themselves and their children. My goal is to offer hope and break the generational cycle of trauma and brokenness.
Forever Family Adoptions was founded to provide trusted advocacy and compassionate guidance to help navigate the adoption process. I deliver ethical, transparent, and heartfelt legal support that honors the dignity of all parties and creates lifelong positive impact. I care about the well-being of every client beyond simply performing legal services and I will counsel you through all aspects of adoption. I specialize exclusively in domestic adoption and guardianship throughout California and am equipped to handle complex cases that general family law attorneys have not encountered. While some hearings can be handled remotely, I am available to travel to your county as needed.
My double major in Psychology and Communication Studies from Westmont College in Santa Barbara equipped me to support clients through the emotional highs and lows of adoption and provide a more holistic approach. At Westmont, I founded a ministry serving local foster children by providing mentorship, tutoring, and respite care at an emergency foster shelter. I earned my law degree and certificate in mediation at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. During law school, I represented foster children in dependency court. Observing the negative impact of foster care deepened my resolve to help children achieve stability and permanence in adoptive homes as early as possible to prevent trauma and abuse. I have practiced adoption exclusively for the last six years and have helped over 130 children find their forever families. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the joy experienced by adopted children and their families as they grow up.
Outside of the courtroom, I enjoy exploring the country in a campervan with my two Miniature Schnauzers, reading, hiking, kayaking, skiing, ice skating, playing pickleball, and strategy games.
“I highly recommend Sharon Horner without hesitation to any family considering adoption.”
